Street Musician playing Chapman Stick

In Paris we saw this man playing a Chapman Stick. Or atleast that's what I think it's called. We saw him at the Palais royale during my europe vacation. Don't post any mean comments. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.

  1. he’s awsome but if he can aford that why is he playing on the street lol

  2. very nice recording of a fine experience!

  3. Who say’s you have to be poor with an old busted guitar to busk?

  4. Am I the only one who doesn’t like this new instrument? I would much rather prefer something more organic in tone that moves the air around me than this extra reverberated digitalization… Don’t get me wrong I love electronic music and ambient sounds like no other, but this to me, just isn’t right – it sounds grossly clean.

  5. I agree, i dont like his tone at all, i play this instrument but i use different pickups to his and go for a different tone. I don’t mind his tone that much but i think it just comes down to his taste. He’s using rather light strings which make it sound weak i feel and electronic as you said.
But i dont think its any reason to dislike the instrument itself, plenty of bassists and guitarists have shit tone but that doesnt make those instruments bad really.
I get what you’re saying though.

  6. after buying mine i have NO money left. So like me he probably needs to get some anyway he can. But street playing is great fun to me, though he doesnt seem to be enjoying it.

  7. Heftycat…new instrument? Not really, tapping instruments have been arund for ages. The Chapman Stick itself is just another form of one, and has been around since about 1970 or so. Versitile and nearly limitless in it’s uses. Encourage you to check it out some more, you might find something you really like.
