I have tried and tried, but I can never get it right. Anyone care to enlighten me or put a link to a good video? Thanks in advance.

Well buddy, tow hand finger tapping takes time and practice…
No one can just wake up and be anything like this link…

I have studied his ways of trying to preform as fast if not faster than him and all I ever got was I need to practice practice and more practice. Taking it slow, and speeding it up.
Yes I will agree with the other user who said turn up the distortion and volume to the guitar and start taping but. You do not need distortion to do fret taps. Joe Satriani has demonstrated this so a long with I know this from playing.
Start off with your guitar on clean and doing normal scales like Penitonic with just one hand and using your index finger to play the third note for each scale progression for every string. Take it slow and tap it hard enough to make the note.
Your index finger on the right hand might feel some slight pain but that is no different than when you started out with guitar. Just keep practicing till you can build it up to the speed you want.
The Michael Angelo Batio Metal Method DVD Speed kills helps. Along with Joe Satriani’s Surfing with an Alien DVD also provides some guitar instrution.
Books for this though I did not find as useful as the videos because this unlike sheet music was something you need to be shown how it is done more so than read about how it is done. Your local music store or guiar center will have these DVDs for you if they are hard core into guitar. If not try Musician’s friend, or other musical store websites also.
