How much would I pay for a nice Fretless bass nowadays?

A Happy-Tappy Question --
(See 'comments' link for Answers)

I have a Fender Jazz and can play alot of songs on it, I crave The Eagles, Led Zeppelin, Ronnie James Dio, Allman Brothers and Journey. But, I am wanting to be more experimental, like Tony Levin (King Crimson) or Geddy Lee (Rush) or Phil Lesh (The Dead, Phil Lesh and Phriends). I want more freedom in my playing.

Whats a good fretless bass brand? Know any current prices?

Budget basses, the Brices towards the bottom of the page are pretty nice. I’ve got a fretless HXB-406 in bubinga that’s surprisingly well made. I haven’t played it much since I got a defretted 5-string Soundgear, though.
