I'm gonna have to say Midnight, with an honorable mention to Always With Me, Always With You. Be warned... If you say Surfing with the Alien, I'm gonna think you're a tool and haven't heard the whole album.

BQ: Is it safe to say Tony Levin is one of the greatest bassists of all time or am I distracted by his epic mustache?

BQ2: Is Mike Portnoy's double bass sexy, or is it sexy?
Liquid Tension Experiment - Universal Mind: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rEZC0ZJ1AW8

BQ3: Are Abnormality gonna release a real album ever? Their 2007 demo EP blew me away. If you haven't heard of them, I'll put up a link in a sec. Listen to it.
Abnormality - Visions
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hVos-yHmcgs
If Visions was written for Rock Band, why does the band have two more songs that AREN'T on Rock Band? And that's your opinion. I like the chaotic sound and the band has some undeniable skill and technical proficiency.

Larry Levin at the Paradise Garage, Frankie Knuckles, Tony Humphries, etc. This site has samples of cassette recorded dj sets from various clubs in the 80's and early 90's. These cassette's are for trade only: trade a cassette for a cassette. I found this site by accident, doing a search online from a postcard about Derrick May's Transmit tour, years ago. didn't keep the site address in my email account like I thought.

A Happy-Tappy Question --
(See 'comments' link for Answers)

thank you tony levin

My dog Lilly thinks that I am a god
My dog Lilly thinks that I am a god
I think that she suspects I am not perfect
But we both know she doesn't really care
Cause she believes her food appears by magic
and she notices that I'm the one who's there

My dog Lilly.... My dog Lilly

My dog Lilly thinks that I am a god
My dog Lilly thinks that I am a god
I took her to our local doggie school
and she quickly mastered every trick they had
but once we got home she'd break every rule
look up at me, and feel real bad

Throw the god a bone
If you can reach him on his cell phone
Cut that god some slack
if you expect to ever have him call you back
Give that dude a break
before you tell him that he's made some big mistake
And you do not have to feel so all alone
Everybody sometimes has to wind it up and
throw that god a bone

My dog Lilly thinks that I am a god
Say, every dog thinks that we all are gods
They can see we all know how to drive a car
And we've just about built condos on the moon
That we might create life's not so bizarre
if not already it may happen soon

Being a god's not always great
Remember this before you start to celebrate
and gods have come and gone before
sometimes it seems the sky is one revolving door
There are some godly fundamentals
Up on Mt. Olympus you can't buy
it's only rentals

My dog Lilly thinks that I am a god
Every dog thinks that we all are gods
And if one day we create some new species
then we'll be quick to teach them how to pray
but you can be sure they will test their leashes
and do just what they want to anyway

Throw the god a bone
If you can reach him on his cell phone
Cut that god some slack
if you expect to ever have him call you back
Give that dude a break
before you tell him that he's made some big mistake
And you do not have to feel so all alone
Everybody sometimes has to wind it up and throw the god a bone
If you can reach her on her cell phone
Cut that god some slack
if you expect to ever have her call you back
Give that babe a break
before you tell her that she's made some kind of
great big huge mistake
And you do not have to feel so all alone
Everybody sometimes has to wind it up and
throw that god a bone

I might add that Tony Levin did stints with Peter Gabriel in Genesis and Solo. I wish Pete would reunite with them...

A Happy-Tappy Question --
(See 'comments' link for Answers)

Favorite guitarists & bassists of mine. From these guys who do you think's the best, who are your favorites in these & what songs do you think were their acts biggest hits with or/& without them?
Daniel Ash, Kevin "Geordie" Walker, George "Lightning Licks" & Louis "Thunder Thumbs"Johnson,Cliff Burton, Jimi Hendrix, Helios Creed, Al Jourgenson, Johnny Marr, Andy Summers, Link Wray, Will Sargeant, George Benson, Mike Watt,East Bay Wray, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Ron Asheton, Johnny Thunders,Philip"Snakefinger"Lithman,
Tony Iommi,Bootsy Collins,Rick Miller,Tom Morello, Dave Mustaine,
Bruce Licher,Thurston Moore, Glenn Branca,Dexter Romweber, Joe Strummer, Mick Jones, Robert Fripp, Tony Levin,Les Paul, Les Claypool, Mark Knopfler, Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, Johnny Ramone, Lee Ranaldo?

oops I almost forgot Terry "Tez" Roberts & his brother Tory "Bones" Roberts too.
I almost forgot to add, before answering please compare their works, research if need to. Also list why is some act better from knowledge of these others?
I also kept certain people off the list because some just aren't in my top ones for style & sound. So specifically why amongst these listed artists only is a certain one or ones better not any other artists. Although after answering about which of these are the best feel free to recommend others after that.
I almost forgot Robert Smith also,
P. S. I'm into Yardbirds but not Zeppelin. In case it helps give clues, these genres include jazz, punk, space rock, progressive, experimental, noise, no wave, industrial, gothic, reggae, funk, acid rock/psychedelic/fuzz/garage, surf, rockabilly/psychobilly, blues, western swing/country, speed metal, mod, rapcore, & other stuff. To know all these guitar styles well is to love guitar.
I almost forgot these 2 brothers Rick Agnew & Frank Agnew.
Mary W, Crazy Train is an Ozzy Osbourne song not Black Sabbath or Tony Iommi song
Les Paul was a guy who was in a a Western Swing trio(western swing was a precursor for rock n roll before rock n roll was around besides blues, jazz & country of course too being a precursor, but western swing combined those already). However in case no one could tell from the name even larger for a contribution in music is his Les Paul Guitar. Philip "Snakefinger" Lithman worked & played with the Residents besides others & solo work. Johnson brothers I mentioned was in a soul group Brothers Johnson who put out "Strawberry Letter 23", George Benson is a jazz guitarist. Rick Miller plays Guitar for Southern Culture on the Skids. Daniel Ash played guitar for Bauhaus, Tones on Tail, Love & Rockets. Bruce Licher played guitar in Savage Republic & punk bands before like Wasted Youth I believe. Dexter Romweber besides solo played guitar for Flat Duo Jets. Mike Watt -solo, Minutemen, Firehose, Sonic Youth, Stooges, Bootsy Collins--Parliament Funkadelic, others-- people mentioned acts their in
oops typo again I meant to say acts they're in not "their" in.
Oops I also forgot to add Steve Albini of Big Black, Shellac & Rapeman, besides all the producing work he's done for even bands as big as the Pixies. Yohan if you know Steve Jones, you should know he got a ton of his sound from Johnny Thunders.
P.S.--I misspelled Sergeant above because I mistakenly spelled it Sargeant cause I was in too much of a hurry I guess, but it's really spelled--Sergeant. Will Sergeant played guitar for Echo & the Bunnymen & other stuff. Andy Summers has played with a lot of bands one of which he was the guitarist for the Police. Fripp(guitar)& Levin(bass)with King Crimson & others. Morello--guitarist for Rage against the Machine & more, Roberts Brothers in Discharge, Broken Bones, Ministry, Battalion of Saints, ADZ, Billy Club, etc. Geddy Lee & Alex Lifeson in Rush, Rick & Frank Agnew besides solo work, also stuff for Adolescents, ADZ, Christian Death, & more. Ron Asheton also plays for Iggy Pop's Stooges, Glenn Branca does guitar symphony compositition numbers & was 1 of the guys who started No Wave which influenced noise & grunge. Joe Strummer & Mick Jones played for the Clash & Big Audio Dynamite. Les Claypool played bass for Primus. Thurston Moore & Lee Ranaldo played guitar for Sonic Youth.
Migh seems to be the best music educated of the answers so far. Way to go Migh!
Myself I might say Helios Creed, Migh's got the right idea & he seems to be the one who seems to have known more about most of the guitarists & bassists I was talking about. Amazing how much personal & researching can go. A pity that more people didn't know about more of these guitarists & bassists like Migh & I do.
